Abstract
The effect of oil and gas development on local and regional water resources can profoundly change a region’s economic possibilities, its water environment, and the vitality of its ecosystem. It is necessary to tackle the water-energy challenge today through technological innovations and institutional changes, such as integrated planning and valuing water as a resource.
