dc.description.abstract	The objective of this Climate and Health Vulnerability Assessment (CHVA) is to assist decision-makers in Colombia with planning effective adaptation measures to deal with climate-related health risks. This assessment includes sub-national considerations for health-related climate action (see Annex A for the methodology). Sub-national considerations are given for Colombia’s 32 departments (see Figure 1). It also incorporates data from a Climate and Health Economic Valuation conducted by the World Bank to estimate of the potential economic costs of health impacts arising from projected changes in temperature and precipitation (see Annex B for the methodology). The findings from this CHVA are organized under four sections. Section I characterizes the climatology in Colombia, highlighting observed and projected climate exposures relevant to health. Section II describes key climate-related risks to health, including nutrition and food security, vector-borne diseases (VDBs), water-borne diseases, increasing temperatures, air quality, and zoonotic diseases. Section III analyzes the adaptive capacity and readiness of Colombia’s health system to prevent and manage climate-related health risks. Recommendations are discussed in Section IV.	en
dc.description.abstract	El objetivo de esta Evaluación de la Vulnerabilidad al Clima y la Salud (CHVA) es ayudar a los tomadores de decisiones en Colombia a planificar medidas de adaptación eficaces para hacer frente a los riesgos para la salud relacionados con el clima. Esta evaluación incluye consideraciones subnacionales para la acción climática relacionada con la salud (véase el Anexo A para la metodología). Las consideraciones subnacionales se refieren a los 32 departamentos de Colombia (véase la figura 1). También incorpora datos de la Valoración Económica del Clima y la Salud realizada por el Banco Mundial para estimar los costos económicos potenciales de los impactos en la salud derivados de los cambios previstos en la temperatura y las precipitaciones (véase el Anexo B para la metodología). Este CHVA se organiza en cuatro secciones. La Sección I caracteriza la climatología en Colombia, destacando las exposiciones climáticas observadas y proyectadas relevantes para la salud. La Sección II describe los principales riesgos para la salud relacionados con el clima, como la nutrición y la seguridad alimentaria, las enfermedades transmitidas por vectores, las enfermedades transmitidas por el agua, el aumento de las temperaturas, la calidad del aire y las enfermedades zoonóticas. La Sección III analiza la capacidad de adaptación y la preparación del sistema de salud de Colombia para prevenir y gestionar los riesgos para la salud relacionados con el clima.
