Biography
François Bertone is a Senior Water Resources Management Specialist for the Global Water Practice of the World Bank. With over thirty years of experience in groundwater resource management, he has worked in more than 40 countries worldwide for private engineering consulting firms, industrial companies, drilling contractors, several UN agencies, and various donors. François joined the World Bank in 2020 and is now leading groundwater-related activities in analytics, policy dialogue, and lending. His current focus is on strengthening the sustainable use of groundwater resources worldwide while supporting the emergence of the next generation of national groundwater experts. François is a firm believer in an interdisciplinary approach and maintains strong links between technical specialists, policy makers, (ground)water users, and academics in the long term.
