This report provides a synthesis of the recent trends on the health status of the population and the underlying determinants of health, and the performance of the health system in terms of quality and access to health services. This is followed by a review of Government policies and programs on health reform in the context of its Poverty Reduction Strategy Program, and concludes with a set of recommendations on policies and actions for achieving these objectives. A short-term strategy addressing Tajikistan's urgent public health needs is presented alongside a second, medium-term to longer-term strategy directed at the systemic reforms needed to develop an effective, equitable, and sustainable health system. These recommendations are centered on health financing reform; restructuring of the health delivery system; integration of public health, personal health, and community health services; and strengthening information systems for monitoring and evaluating the impact of the reform policies and programs.en-USCC BY 3.0 IGOACCESS TO DRUGSACCESS TO HEALTH CAREACCESS TO HEALTH SERVICESAMBULATORY CAREBASIC HEALTH SERVICESBUDGET ALLOCATIONCATASTROPHIC ILLNESSESCENTRAL ASIANCHILD HEALTH SERVICESCOMMUNICABLE DISEASESCOMMUNITY HEALTHCOMMUNITY HEALTH SERVICESCOMMUNITY PARTICIPATIONCOST-EFFECTIVENESSDEMAND FOR HEALTHDEMAND FOR HEALTH CAREDEVELOPMENT GOALSDIABETESDIAGNOSTIC SERVICESDISPENSARIESDRUG LISTECONOMIC GROWTHESSENTIAL DRUGSEXPENDITURESFAMILIESFINANCIAL BARRIERSFINANCIAL PROTECTIONFOOD SECURITYHEALTH BUDGETSHEALTH CARE FINANCEHEALTH CARE FINANCINGHEALTH CARE MANAGERSHEALTH CARE PROVIDERSHEALTH CARE REFORMHEALTH CARE SECTORHEALTH CARE SERVICESHEALTH CARE SPENDINGHEALTH CARE SYSTEMHEALTH CENTERSHEALTH DELIVERYHEALTH DELIVERY SYSTEMHEALTH ECONOMICSHEALTH EFFECTSHEALTH FACILITIESHEALTH FINANCEHEALTH FINANCINGHEALTH FINANCING REFORMHEALTH INDICATORSHEALTH INFORMATION SYSTEMSHEALTH INTERVENTIONSHEALTH MANAGEMENTHEALTH NEEDSHEALTH OUTCOMESHEALTH POLICYHEALTH PROGRAMSHEALTH PROMOTIONHEALTH REFORMHEALTH RESOURCESHEALTH SECTORHEALTH SERVICEHEALTH SERVICESHEALTH SPENDINGHEALTH STATUSHEALTH SYSTEMHEALTH SYSTEMSHEALTH WORKERSHOSPITAL ADMISSIONHOSPITAL BEDSHOSPITAL FINANCINGHOSPITAL MANAGEMENTHOSPITAL SECTORHOSPITAL SERVICESHOSPITALSHOUSEHOLD FOOD SECURITYHUNGERHYGIENEIMMUNIZATIONINCOME COUNTRIESINCOME GROUPSINFANT MORTALITYINFANT MORTALITY RATEINFANT MORTALITY RATESINFECTIOUS DISEASESINFORMATION SYSTEMINFORMATION SYSTEMSINJURIESINTERVENTIONLIVING STANDARDSLOW INCOMEMALNUTRITIONMEDICAL EDUCATIONMEDICAL SUPPLIESMEDICAL TECHNOLOGYMIGRATIONMORTALITYNATIONAL HEALTHNONGOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONSNURSESNUTRITIONNUTRITION PROGRAMSPACIFIC REGIONPATIENTPATIENT CAREPATIENT MANAGEMENTPATIENTSPHYSICIANSPOVERTY REDUCTIONPREGNANCYPRIMARY CAREPRIMARY HEALTH CAREPRIVATE HOUSEHOLDSPRIVATE SECTORPRIVATE SECTORSPROVIDER INCENTIVESPUBLIC HEALTHQUALITY CONTROLQUALITY OF HEALTH CAREREFERRALSRURAL AREASRURAL HOSPITALSSAFE WATERSOCIAL SERVICESSTISTRANSPORTVISITSWASTEWORKERSTajikistan : Health Sector NoteWorld Bank10.1596/8467
