Briceno-Garmendia, Cecilia M.Benitez, Daniel Alberto2017-08-142017-08-142010-08https://hdl.handle.net/10986/27772The Africa Infrastructure Country Diagnostic (AICD) has gathered and analyzed extensive data on infrastructure in more than 40 Sub-Saharan countries, including Cape Verde. The results have been presented in reports covering several sectors—ICT, irrigation, power, transport, water and sanitation— and various policy areas, including investment needs, fiscal costs, and sector performance. This report presents the key AICD findings for Cape Verde, allowing the country’s infrastructure situation to be benchmarked against that of its African peers. Given that Cape Verde is a relatively well- off middle-income country, its performance will be benchmarked against that of other middle-income countries in Africa. Detailed comparisons will also be made with immediate regional neighbors in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and where relevant, with other island states that face a similar set of infrastructure challenges.en-USCC BY 3.0 IGOACCESS TO ELECTRICITYACCOUNTABILITYAIRAIR TRAFFICAIR TRAFFIC CONTROLAIR TRANSPORTAIR TRAVELAIRCRAFTAIRPORTAIRPORT FACILITIESAIRPORT OPERATIONSAPPROACHAPPROPRIATE TECHNOLOGIESAVAILABILITYAVAILABILITY OF DATAAVIATION SECTORBAGGAGEBALANCEBANDWIDTHBOTTLENECKSBRIDGEBROADBANDBROADBAND MARKETSCABLECABLE SYSTEMCAPITAL EXPENDITURECAPITAL INVESTMENTCAPITAL INVESTMENTSCARGOCARGO TRAFFICCARRIERSCOLLECTION EFFICIENCYCOMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIESCOMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGIESCOMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGYCOMPETITIVE MARKETSCONCESSIONCONCESSION CONTRACTSCONNECTIVITYCONTAINER TRAFFICCOPYRIGHTCOST OF POWERCOST RECOVERYCOSTS OF FUELCOSTS OF POWERCUSTOMSDEFICITSDEGREE OF CONCENTRATIONDIESELDIESEL FUELDISTRIBUTION LOSSESDOMESTIC AIR TRANSPORTDOMESTIC ENERGYDOMESTIC ENERGY RESOURCESDOMESTIC TRAFFICE-MAILECONOMIC COSTSECONOMIC GROWTHELECTRICITYELECTRICITY PRICESELECTRICITY TARIFFSELECTRIFICATIONENERGY COSTSENERGY PRODUCTIONENTERPRISE SURVEYSFINANCIAL BURDENFINANCIAL DATAFINANCIAL FLOWSFREIGHTFUEL COSTSFUEL FOR POWER GENERATIONFUEL OILFUEL PRICESFUEL SUPPLYGENERATIONGENERATION CAPACITYGENERATION OF ELECTRICITYGOVERNMENT SUBSIDIESGROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCTGROWTH RATESHOUSEHOLD BUDGETSHUMAN RESOURCESICTINDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENTINFRASTRUCTURE ACCESSINFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENTINFRASTRUCTURE PERFORMANCEINFRASTRUCTURE SERVICESINFRASTRUCTURE SPENDINGINTERNATIONAL AIR TRANSPORTINTERNATIONAL AIR TRANSPORT ASSOCIATIONINTERNATIONAL AIRPORTSINTERNATIONAL AVIATIONINTERNATIONAL FLIGHTSINTERNATIONAL PORTSINTERNATIONAL TRAFFICINTERNATIONAL TRAVELINTEROPERABILITYINVESTMENT CLIMATEKILOWATT-HOURLANDLORD MODELLEGISLATIONLICENSESLOAD FACTORSLOCAL CALLMAINTENANCE COSTSMARKET CONCENTRATIONMARKET SHAREMATERIALMOBILE COMMUNICATIONSMOBILE NETWORKSMOBILE PHONEMOBILE TELEPHONYMUNICIPALITIESO&MOIL IMPORTSOIL PRICESOIL RESOURCESOPERATIONAL EFFICIENCYPASSENGERSPETROLEUMPHYSICAL INFRASTRUCTUREPOPULATION DENSITYPORT AUTHORITYPOWERPOWER CONSUMPTIONPOWER GENERATION CAPACITYPOWER PRICESPOWER PRODUCTIONPOWER SECTORPRICE OF OILPRIVATE INVESTMENTPRIVATE PARTNERSHIPPRIVATE SECTORPRIVATE SECTOR PARTICIPATIONPRODUCTIVITYPUBLIC INFRASTRUCTUREPUBLIC PRIVATE INFRASTRUCTUREPUBLIC SECTORPUBLIC WORKSQUALITY OF SERVICESQUERIESRAILRAILWAYSRELIABILITYRENEWABLE ENERGYRESULTRESULTSREVENUE COLLECTIONROADROAD INFRASTRUCTUREROAD MAINTENANCEROAD NETWORKROAD NETWORKSROADSROUTESRUNWAYSRURAL ACCESSSAFETYSANITATIONSANITATION UTILITIESSEAT CAPACITYSECURITY STANDARDSSEWERAGE SERVICESSUBSIDIARYTARIFF SETTINGTAXATIONTECHNICAL STAFFTECHNICAL SUPPORTTELECOMTELECOMMUNICATIONSTELECOMMUNICATIONS SERVICESTELEPHONETELEPHONE NETWORKTRAFFICTRAFFIC GROWTHTRAFFIC MANAGEMENTTRANSITTRANSPORTTRANSPORT INDICATORSTRANSPORT INDUSTRYTRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURETRANSPORT MARKETTRANSPORT PLANTRANSPORT POLICYTRANSPORT SECTORTRANSPORT SERVICETRANSPORT STRATEGYTRANSPORTATIONTURNAROUND TIMEUNDERGROUNDUNIVERSAL ACCESSURBAN TRANSPORTUSERSUSESUTILITY BILLSUTILITY SERVICESWATER COMPANIESWATER CONSUMPTIONWATER SERVICEWATER SERVICESWATER SUPPLYWATER TARIFFSWATER UTILITIESWEBWEB SITECape Verde's InfrastructureReportWorld BankA Continental Perspective10.1596/27772
