It presents the most recent data on HIV prevalence, and the results of models that estimate sources of infection and likely patterns and trends in future prevalence. The paper also describes how these data and projections have been incorporated into the design of Honduras' response to the epidemic, grounding PENSIDA III's strategic direction in the data on the epidemic and response in Honduras, building and improving on previous experience.en-USCC BY 3.0 IGOABUSEACCESS TO HEALTH CAREACQUIRED IMMUNODEFICIENCY SYNDROMEADOLESCENTSADULT PREVALENCEAGEDAIDS EPIDEMICANTENATAL CAREANTIBODIESAT RISK GROUPSAVERAGE AGEBEHAVIORAL CHANGESBISEXUALSBLOOD TRANSFUSIONSCHLAMYDIACLEAN NEEDLESCONDOMCONDOM USECONDOMSCONGENITAL SYPHILISDIAGNOSESDIAGNOSISDISCRIMINATIONDRUG USERSEPIDEMICEPIDEMIC SPREADINGEPIDEMICSETHNIC GROUPETHNIC GROUPSFEMALESGENDER EQUITYGENDER INEQUALITYGLOBAL HIV/AIDSGONORRHEAHEALTH CARE SERVICESHEALTH SYSTEMSHEPATITISHEPATITIS BHERPESHIGH-RISKHIGH-RISK GROUPSHIVHIV INFECTIONSHIV POLICIESHIV PREVENTIONHIV TESTINGHIV TRANSMISSIONHIV-AIDSHIV-POSITIVE PEOPLEHOMOSEXUALSHUMAN DEVELOPMENTHUMAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUSHUMAN RIGHTSIMMUNODEFICIENCYIMPROVEMENTS IN POLICIESINFECTION RATESINFECTIOUS DISEASESINTRAVENOUS DRUG USERSLESBIANSMEDICAL SERVICESMEDICINEMIGRANTSMODE OF TRANSMISSIONMORTALITYMORTALITY RATEMOTHERMOTHER-TO-CHILDMOTHER-TO-CHILD TRANSMISSIONMOTHER-TO-CHILD TRANSMISSION PREVENTIONNATIONAL AIDSNATIONAL AIDS COMMISSIONNATIONAL STRATEGYNEEDLESNEW CASESNEW INFECTIONSORPHANSPEER PRESSUREPEOPLE LIVING WITH AIDSPLAN OF ACTIONPOLICY RESPONSEPREGNANT WOMENPRENATAL CAREPREVALENCE RATEPREVALENCE RATESPREVENTION EFFORTSPREVENTION OF MOTHERPREVENTION OF MOTHER-TO-CHILD TRANSMISSIONPREVENTIVE ACTIONPREVENTIVE BEHAVIORSPROGRESSPROPHYLACTIC TREATMENTPUBLIC ACCOUNTABILITYPUBLIC POLICYREPRODUCTIVE HEALTHREPRODUCTIVE HEALTH EDUCATIONRESPECTRESPONSE TO AIDSRISK FACTORSRISK OF INFECTIONRISK POPULATIONSRISK STATUSRISKY BEHAVIORSRURAL RESIDENTSSECRETARY OF HEALTHSERVICE DELIVERYSEXSEX DISTRIBUTIONSEX INDUSTRYSEX WITH MENSEX WORKERSSEXUAL ACTIVITYSEXUAL PARTNERSHIPSEXUALLY TRANSMITTED INFECTIONSSOCIAL SECURITYSTISSTREET CHILDRENSURVEILLANCE DATATBTEENTHERAPYTRANSMISSION RATESTREATMENTUNAIDSUNPROTECTED SEXURBAN AREASUSE OF CONDOMSVICTIMSVICTIMS OF ABUSEVIOLENCEVISIONVOLUNTARY COUNSELINGVULNERABILITYVULNERABLE CHILDRENVULNERABLE GROUPSVULNERABLE POPULATIONSYOUNG ADULTSYOUNG PEOPLEYOUTHBuilding on EvidenceReportWorld BankA Situational Analysis of the HIV Epidemic and Policy Response in Honduras10.1596/28244
