It reports on recent economic performance (Part I), progress in the implementation of the Government's policy reform agenda (Part II), and donor activities in the relevant reform areas (Part III). The report points out that Lao PDR macroeconomic performance continues to be strong, and the impact of resource sector is increasing. Real GDP growth continued to be robust at 7.6 percent in 2006 and is expected to remain above 7 percent in 2007. Manufacturing and other non-resource sectors continued to grow moderately, contributing around 5 percentage points of the above growth. However, other significant part of economic growth was contributed by the resource sectors, especially by the expansion of copper extraction and construction of large hydropower projects.en-USCC BY 3.0 IGOAccountingaccounting systemsADBagricultureallocationannual average rateauditingBanking LawBanking Sectorbanking systemBilateral Tradebudget allocationsbudget classificationbudget classification systembudget executionbudget managementbudget preparationbudget processCapacity BuildingCapital Expenditurescentralizationchart of accountsCivil Servicecommercial bankscompetitivenessConsumer Price Indexdata collectiondebtdebt managementdebt servicedebt sustainabilityDevelopment Agencydevelopment strategydisseminationDomestic savingsDONOR ASSISTANCEeconomic growtheconomic performanceEIBelectricityemploymentexchange rateexchange ratesexpenditure programsExportsexternal auditorsexternal auditsexternal debtexternal shocksFinancial AccountabilityFinancial Managementfinancial performancefinancial restructuringFINANCIAL SECTORfinancial supportfiscal deficitfiscal frameworkfiscal managementfiscal policyfiscal yearsForeign Direct Investmentforeign exchangeforeign investmentFree TradeGDPGDP per capitagood governancegovernment budgetGovernment expendituresGovernment FinanceGovernment Finance Statisticsgovernment policyGovernment RevenueGross Domestic Producthealth sectorhuman resource managementincidence of povertyIndustrial DevelopmentInfantInfant mortalityinflationinformation systemsInsuranceintergovernmental fiscal relationsInternational Accounting Standardsinternational auditing standardsInternational BankingInternational Cooperationinternational reserveslabor forcelack of awarenesslegislationLife expectancylive birthsliving conditionslocal governmentmacroeconomic frameworkMACROECONOMIC SITUATIONmacroeconomic stabilitymanagement systemsmandatesmarket economyMEDIUM TERM EXPENDITUREMEDIUM TERM EXPENDITURE FRAMEWORKMedium-Term ExpenditureMedium-Term Expenditure FrameworkMillennium Development GoalsMinistry of EducationMinistry of FinanceMinistry of HealthMinistry of Informationmonopolynational planningnational plansnatural resourcesNet Present ValueNet profitoperating costsoperational costsorganic Budget Lawper capita incomePerformance Assessmentperformance monitoringpolitical supportPoverty AssessmentPoverty EradicationPoverty Eradication StrategyPoverty ReductionPoverty Reduction StrategyPresent valueprice controlsPrice Indexprimary educationprivate banksprivate firmsPrivate InvestmentPRIVATE SECTORprogresspublicPublic Administrationpublic expenditurePublic Expenditure ManagementPUBLIC EXPENDITURE POLICYPublic Expenditure Reviewpublic financepublic finance managementpublic financespublic financial managementPublic Investmentpublic investment programPUBLIC SECTORPublic Sector Accountingpublic sector net borrowingreal GDPrecapitalizationreform agendareform programresource managementRevenue GrantsRevenue Performancerevenue sharingSanitationschool-age populationsector policiessocial developmentsocial indicatorsSocioeconomic DevelopmentState AssetsSTATE OWNED ENTERPRISESstructural reformssustainability analysisTaxtax revenueTechnical AssistanceTelecommunicationsTotal expenditurestotal revenueTrade BarrierstransparencyTransporttreasuryUrban populationvaluationValue AddedvulnerabilityWagesWater Supplyworking capitalWorld Health OrganizationWorld Trade OrganizationWTOLao PDR Economic Monitor, November 2007World Bank10.1596/13827
