Best practices are outlined to improve the working, living, and community conditions of artisanal miners. The mining sector is an important source of revenue for the Central African Republic, and the mineral wealth of the country presents good potential in alluvial diamonds, gold and uranium. The mining sector provides significant employment opportunities through the artisanal and small-scale subsector, and could become a significant source of community development and economic growth.
