Operations Evaluation Department2012-06-072012-06-072005978-0-8213-6390-4https://hdl.handle.net/10986/7410This report analyzes the effectiveness of the World Bank's lending support for the growing area of community-based development (CBD) and community-driven development (CDD). The latter supports the empowerment of the poor by giving communities control over subproject resources and decisions, while CBD gives communities less responsibility and emphasizes collaboration, consultation, or sharing information with them on project activities. Since the late 1990s, the focus of Bank-supported CBD/CDD projects has shifted toward CDD, though many CDD projects also include CBD components.en-USCC BY 3.0 IGOACCESS TO INFRASTRUCTUREACCOUNTABILITYAUDITINGBASELINE SURVEYSBENEFICIARIESCAPACITY BUILDINGCASCOMMUNITIESCOMMUNITY INVOLVEMENTCOMMUNITY PARTICIPATIONCONTROL GROUPSCORRUPTIONCOUNTRY ASSISTANCE STRATEGIESDECENTRALIZATIONDEVOLUTIONEMPLOYMENTHOUSEHOLD SURVEYSICRIMPLEMENTATION COMPLETION REPORTINCOMEINNOVATIONINSTITUTIONAL DEVELOPMENTINTERVENTIONKEY INFORMANT INTERVIEWSLATIN AMERICANLEARNINGLOCAL GOVERNMENTM&E SYSTEMSMONITORING & EVALUATIONNGONONGOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONSOED RATINGSOPERATIONSPACIFIC REGIONPARTICIPATORY APPROACHPOVERTY ALLEVIATIONPOVERTY REDUCTIONPROGRAMSPROJECT IMPLEMENTATIONPROJECT MONITORINGQUANTITATIVE EVALUATIONROADSRURAL DEVELOPMENTSCHOOLSSECTOR WORKSERVICE DELIVERYSOCIAL CAPITALSOCIAL SERVICESSTAKEHOLDERSSUBSIDIARYSUPERVISIONSUSTAINABILITYTARGETINGTRANSPARENCYTRANSPORTURBAN DEVELOPMENTWATER SUPPLYThe Effectiveness of World Bank Support for Community-Based and -Driven DevelopmentEfficacite de l'appui de la Banque mondiale au developpement de proximite et au developpement mene par la communaute ; La eficacia del apoyo del Banco Mundial para el desarrollo basado en la comunidad e irnpulsado por la comunidad : una evaluacion del GEIWorld Bank10.1596/978-0-8213-6390-4
