El informe sobre el clima y el desarrollo del país (ICDP o CCDR en inglés) en Perú proporciona análisis y recomendaciones sobre la integración de los esfuerzos del país para lograr conjuntamente el desarrollo económico, reducción de emisiones e incremento de la resiliencia climática. El ICDP explora oportunidades y desafíos para alinear el camino de desarrollo de Perú con sus compromisos recientes sobre el cambio climático. Perú es altamente vulnerable al cambio climático y necesita acciones de adaptación urgente. A su vez, Perú puede beneficiarse de políticas de descarbonización, gracias a sus recursos mineros, forestales y agrícolas, y de energías renovables. Perú tiene muchas oportunidades para desarrollar e implementar políticas climáticas integrales que aumenten la productividad y reduzcan la pobreza. Un desarrollo resiliente y bajo en carbono para Perú requerirá reformas institucionales sustanciales, junto con inversiones públicas y privadas.

The economies of the Western Balkans continue to face a turbulent external environment, placing households, firms, and governments under acute stress. Just as the post-COVID recovery of 2021 began to fade and the region returned to a normalized rate of economic growth, the Western Balkan region now faces a new combination of challenges. The war in Ukraine, and the resultant sharp increase and energy prices and slowdown in global growth, is weighing on economic performance in all six economies. Higher energy and food prices have pushed inflation to levels unseen for many years, eroding purchasing power and business confidence. Poverty and Shared Prosperity 2022: Correcting Course provides the first comprehensive analysis of the pandemic’s toll on poverty in developing countries. It identifies how governments can optimize fiscal policy to help correct course. Fiscal policies offset the impact of COVID-19 on poverty in many high-income countries, but those policies offset barely one quarter of the pandemic’s impact in low-income countries and lower-middle-income countries. Improving support to households as crises continue will require reorienting protective spending away from generally regressive and inefficient subsidies and toward a direct transfer support system—a first key priority. Reorienting fiscal spending toward supporting growth is a second key priority identified by the report. Some of the highest-value public spending often pays out decades later. Amid crises, it is difficult to protect such investments, but it is essential to do so.
