Abstract
This short country report, a result of larger Information for Development Program (infoDev) - supported survey of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in education in Africa, provides a general overview of current activities and issues related to ICT use in education in the country. Following the model of the Singaporean experience, the Mauritian government has been visionary in its promotion of its country as a 'cyber island,' a hub for the southern African region with a diversified economy. Mauritius has attempted to promote ICTs in schools since the late 1990s which is reflected in its national ICT policy, a segment of which is dedicated to education.Citation
