J. David Brown is a senior economist in the Center for Economic Studies at the U.S. Census Bureau and a research fellow at the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA). He was previously a reader in Finance at Heriot-Watt University (2001-2009) and an assistant professor at the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics and the Stockholm School of Economics (1996-2001). He is the author of several articles on enterprise restructuring and privatization, including publications in the Journal of Political Economy, the American Political Science Review, the Economic Journal, the Journal of Regional Science, Economic Development and Cultural Change, and the Journal of Comparative Economics.
